Ljubljana
Ljubljana is the capital and largest city of Slovenia. The population is over 285,000. The area is 164 km/sq. (63 mi/sq.) North of the city rise the Alps. The surroundings of the city were settled as early as 2000 BC. The area is listed as: Prehistoric Pile Dwellings around the Alps. On the outskirts of the city there was a Roman military camp, which over time became a permanent settlement, called Emona, the place can be visited by a trail with information panels. Other historical sites are Ljubljana Castle, Dragon Bridge over the Ljubljanica River, one of the first reinforced concrete bridges in Europe. University of Ljubljana founded in 1919. Bled
Bled is a town at the foot of the Southern Limestone Alps. The population is over 5,000. The Slovenian-Austrian border is nearby. Bled is one of the most visited tourist destinations in Slovenia. The main attraction is Lake Bled, which has an area of 1.45 sq km (0.56 sq mi) and a depth of 29.5 meters (97 ft.) and Bled Island, on which stands a church built in Baroque and Gothic style. Kranj
Kranj is a historic town in Slovenia. The population is 37,000. It is located 29 km (18 mi) northwest of the capital Ljubljana. Not far to the north are the Slovenian Alps. Kranj has a nice historic center with several churches and many historical buildings. Kranj Cathedral, Plečnik's arcades, Mitničar house, Prešeren Theater, Pungert are worth visiting. Postojna Cave
The karst caves are located in the area of the town of Postojna, after which they are named. The length of the explored cave system is 24.3 kilometers (15.1 miles), the depth is 115 meters (377 feet). Temperature 8-10 degrees Celsius (46.5 - 50 F). The caves were visited as early as the 13th century, classical tourism began in 1818. Unique underground animals live in the caves and you can see beautiful underground spaces and fascinating stalactite formations..
