Kittila
Kittilä is a municipality in Finnish Lapland, located about 170 km (106 mi) north of the Arctic Circle. It has a population of around 6,700 residents, but welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors each year thanks to its famous winter resorts. The area is surrounded by vast forests, crystal-clear lakes, rivers, and the fells of Pallas–Yllästunturi National Park, creating one of Finland's most beautiful natural landscapes. Kittilä is best known for Levi Ski Resort, Finland's largest ski destination, offering around 40 slopes, more than 230 km (143 mi) of cross-country skiing trails, and excellent snow conditions from October to May. Winter activities include snowmobiling, husky and reindeer safaris, ice fishing, snowshoeing, and Northern Lights excursions. During summer, visitors enjoy hiking, mountain biking, canoeing, fishing, berry picking, and the Midnight Sun. A unique attraction is the nearby Samiland Exhibition, showcasing Sámi culture and traditions. Local gastronomy is based on reindeer, Arctic char, salmon, whitefish, mushrooms, cloudberries, and blueberries. Traditional dishes include sautéed reindeer (poronkäristys) with mashed potatoes and lingonberries, hearty rye bread, creamy soups, and delicious berry desserts.
Levi Ski Resort
Levi Ski Resort is Finland's largest and most popular ski resort, located in Finnish Lapland near the village of Sirkka. The resort features 43 ski slopes, 27 modern lifts, and more than 230 km (143 mi) of cross-country skiing trails. Alpine skiing began here in 1964, while the first ski lift opened in 1965. Levi has hosted the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup since 2004, becoming one of northern Europe's leading winter sports destinations. Yllas Ski Resort
Ylläs Ski Resort is Finland's second-largest ski resort, located in Finnish Lapland between the villages of Äkäslompolo and Ylläsjärvi. It offers 63 ski slopes, 29 lifts, and Finland's longest downhill run, stretching 3 km (1.9 mi). It is also surrounded by more than 330 km (205 mi) of cross-country skiing trails, making it a paradise for Nordic skiing enthusiasts. Ylläs lies beside Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park, providing spectacular scenery throughout the year. Pallas–Yllästunturi National Park
Pallas–Yllästunturi National Park is Finland's third-largest national park, covering 1,020 km² (394 sq mi) in Finnish Lapland. Established in 1938 as Pallas–Ounastunturi National Park and expanded into its present form in 2005, it is one of the country's most visited protected areas. The park is famous for its rolling fells, ancient forests, crystal-clear lakes, and exceptionally pure air, considered among the cleanest in the world. Visitors can explore more than 500 km (311 mi) of marked hiking trails and extensive cross-country skiing routes.
